Stipula Etruria
The exquisite, Stipula Etruria: a collection that best exemplifies the design sensibilities of the famous Italian pen maker, drawing inspiration from the sophisticated decorations of its Tuscan roots, a region known as Etruria during ancient times. Carefully examined for color and consistency each piece is hand selected and turned from solid rods of high-grade Italian resin and then hand polished to ensure that each writing instrument is made to Stipulḁs highest standard of quality.
Pros: nice design, protective packaging and it writes well.
Cons: the clip arrived a little bit scratched. I had to fix this.
I received this pen as part of the monthly inkcredible box subscription. I own the entire Adagio series from Stipula, and had passed my eyes onto other brands... boy am I glad that Truphae redirected my attention to this wonderful pen. Yes, it is oversized which I don't mind, but the resin has such incredible depth and variation that it needs the "extra space" to really shine. It really has a beautiful amber color that captures your eye when the pen is in sunlight. The nib (mine is a M nib) does have a little bit of feedback and isn't the smoothest nib out there, but it does not skip and is wet enough to get the job done.
Thank you Truphae for introducing me to this amazing pen!!
I had this one on my Wish List, so was pleased to receive it in a subscription box. The resin has a beautiful depth and the fat, nicely contoured barrel and sculpted grip make it extremely comfortable to hold. Mine came with a Medium nib that is similar to others, but possibly a tiny bit fatter than most. It is also very smooth. Delightful.
This is the Magnifica version of this design, which means it's a little oversized in comparison to similar pens from Stipula's past. I own a vintage Stipula in Ambra with this same overall design where the body is celluloid and the trim is silver, and this one in "Miele Selvatico" (Wild Honey) with the trim in gold and the body in resin is every bit as nice in a collection case (despite being much less expensive to buy than the celluloid versions of the past when new). I'm glad to have this. I've enjoyed the celluloid version for years and I'm sure I will this one just as much, as I'm drawn to ambers and browns for fountain pens that I actually use (rather than collect), because they look so nice iwth the wood of my writing table and the various accoutrements I have on it. Highly recommended.
