Tramonto is the handcrafted fountain pen in precious resin. The spotted effect refers to the last evenings of summer, when the clear and clear sky begins to fill with small clouds that chase each other. A bit like what happens in the mind when the most serene thoughts are added to the most bizarre ones to be placed on candid paper.
Nice, unmistakably Italian style piston-filler. Fairly large, but not so heavy. I appreciate that the threads to attach the cap are placed on the nib end of the grip, rather than the more common placement at the barrel end. (See photos.) This puts the threads away from my tender fingers and may also reduce the likelihood of drying out by reducing the headspace when capped. (Have not tested this.) The piston knob design allows the cap to post very securely, but the pen is large enough to use unposted. Mine came with a Fine nib that was quite rough. Not scratchy, just really rough, as in way too much feedback. (Under magnification, one could see that it had the texture of a meatball, not a billiard ball. But it laid ink down perfectly well.) I complained and Truphae put me in touch with the North American distributer, who quickly and cheerfully sent me a replacement nib. The new nib is quite satisfactory, and writes a little wetter than I expect from a Fine. Nice pen and excellent support.
