Special edition for 2022! The LAMY AL-Star is the aluminum big brother to the LAMY Safari. The highlighter colored triangular grip section makes it great for those starting out who have no idea how to hold a fountain pen, but it's used and loved by fountain pen lovers of all levels of experience. This glossy red aluminum AL-Star comes with an interchangeable silver steel nib, which can be easily swapped out for another size. It also comes with a special edition red and vibrant yellow notebook! This fountain pen comes with a Mango LAMY ink cartridge so you can get started writing right away. If you'd like to use bottled fountain pen ink, you can also purchase a LAMY Z28 converter.

Love this thing

I've never been into Al-Stars, but for some reason I fell in love with this pen when I saw it, and it's as lovely as I hoped in-person. The glossy finish is fantastic, and the contrasting neon-yellow section and orange feed look great. I ordered it with a B nib, (it's consistent and smooth, very nice) and it was installed on the section with the orange feed, but the section with the black feed came with an F nib, which is a bonus in my mind. The notebook looks awesome if loud. I haven't used it much, so I can't speak to the paper quality. For an LE pen with an extra nib/section and a notebook, I think it's a great deal.

Almost Perfect, but Getting There

I have over a dozen Lamy fountain pens. And I have loved them all. I really love the yellow grip on this one. The only trouble I had was getting the cap to click onto the back end when I was writing with it. It seems to be getting better. But I almost returned it at one point. I do not know if you’ve gotten other feedback similar to this.

Annual tradition

For a number of years I have purchased the LAMY Al Star fountain pen in the special color for the year. The pen does not disappoint. It's always dependable, durable, and is one of my go-to pens in my daily line up. This year's red is vibrant and eye-catching and will be fun to use for years to come. The notebook and the extra nib are a bonus that makes a good purchase even better.
