Montegrappa's The Batman pen release follows one of the year's biggest cinematic releases, Warner Bros. Pictures The Batman directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson. The March 2022 movie release reinterpreted Gotham City's iconic hero from a dark, gritty, raw perspective focusing on the young Bruce Wayne’s early crimefighting career, and The Batman fountain pen by Montegrappa boldly syncs up with the movie’s ethos.
Montegrappa's The Batman fountain pen design boasts extreme, tactical styling with engineering, materials, and finishes to match. Built from 5-axis CNC-milled Grade 2 titanium, and embellished with black ruthenium polished brass and stainless steel, Montegrappa The Batman fountain pen design is purposeful, bold, and powerful.
The pen's brass components were made using machine-turning and lost-wax casting. The pen cap’s complex appendages and the Batman emblem visible in the pen's barrel were also accomplished using lost-wax casting. Montegrappa craftsmen then used laser engraving to create the same mark on the steel cap disc.
The pen’s octagonal profile is an elaborate reworking of the Extra Otto, a writing instrument we'd expect billionaire Bruce Wayne to own. Key design elements of Montegrappa The Batman fountain pen echo the form and function of the Batsuit featured in the March 2022 movie release; including armor plating with matte, industrial finishes, and integrated utility.
The pen's spring-loaded pocket clip is inspired by the superhero’s signature grapple gun, and writing enthusiasts and Batman fans alike will enjoy the five grappling hooks mounted at the rear of the cap. Cladding on the pen's cap creates an effect similar to another key element of the 2022 Batman's arsenal, his gauntlet, that also features the Montegrappa logo.
Each Montegrappa The Batman: Limited Edition fountain pen uses a piston filling system and is fitted with an 8mm polished black ruthenium 18K gold custom nib in varying nib sizes. The custom nib used for Montegrappa The Batman: Limited Edition fountain pens is engraved with the silhouette of Batman's cowl.
The Limited Edition Montegrappa The Batman fountain pen is limited to 330 fountain pens and rollerball pens with the limited edition number recalling Batman's original print debut on March 30, 1989.
