Moonman is a part of the new wave of inexpensive fountain pens made in China that provide tremendous quality for an affordable price. Similar to PenBBS, these pens are designed by fountain pen enthusiasts looking for a high performing, everyday writing experience. Moonman delivers with its eyedropper-friendly design and reliable steel nib.
The Moonman M600S features a variety of magnificent acrylic resin bodies, ranging from teal to purple. With cracked ice and swirling patterns, these are some of the most eye catching fountain pens on the market. They are cartridge/converter filled and include a standard international converter with purchase.
I really like this pen--gorgeous body, perfect weight and size for my small hands--except the nib. It wrote right out of the box, laying a nice Western Fine nib line. But after an extended writing period, the line became thinner and thinner until no ink came out despite having a good amount in the converter. Flushed out the converter and nib with soapy water, followed with a good rinse and overnight drying. Same results. Eventually, tweaked the nib to improve the ink flow and now the pen writes reasonably well. Wish that was the last of the issues but the nib suffers from hard starts, especially after sitting for a day, and must be dipped in ink to get it going. Be prepared to keep tweaking this pen.
The pen has a beautiful coloration and varies as you turn the pen body. Its well built and sturdy + a great ,smooth writing nib. Great price to boot.
A pretty good pen for the money. It is large, like a Conklin Duragraph, with an even larger grip area where your fingers won't touch the cap-threads. I liked the first one (green teal) so much I bought another, blue .
The Moonman M600S is very close in size, shape and overall appearance to a Conklin Duragraph. I would rate this pen 5 stars on appearance alone. It only loses one star because the nib is not quite as nice to write with as some other pens in its class. Mine has a Moonman nib labeled F and it lays down an ink line that is comparable to a Conklin M . Overall quite close to a pen that is 2-3X the price. The "Ice Teal" barrel looks great with Diamine Prussian Blue ink.
