Back in 1988 Parker released their first Duofold since production previously stopped back in the 1940s. It was released as part of their 100th anniversary, called the Centennial model, and is made in Newhaven, England by Parker UK.

The Parker Pen Company is an American manufacturer of luxury pens, founded in 1888 by George Safford Parker in Janesville, Wisconsin, United States. Parker Pen Co. prided itself on its ability to constantly bring new ideas and products to the American pen markets, and eventually World pen markets. By the 1920s, Parker was reportedly in the Top 2 writing instrument companies in the entire world in terms of Annual Units Sold and would remain either #1 or #2 until the 1960s.

Around the time the company was ready to celebrate its 100th year anniversary, the company experienced a drastic change in ownership after being bought out by the Gillette Company. This ultimately led to the complete overhaul of everything the company spent its first-century building which was high-end, luxury writing instruments that would compete with the likes of Montblanc. Gillette tried to revamp the markets for what their predecessors had amassed a fortune selling, but they quickly realized that ship had sailed and would then begin to start flooding the market with inexpensive writing instruments with the common man in mind, ultimately sealing the fate of Parker. In 2000, Gillette sold its writing instruments division to the company Newell Rubbermaid, whose Sanford Stationery Division became the largest writing instrument manufacturer in the world at that time. They accomplished this by simultaneously owning such brand names as Rotring, Sharpie, Reynolds as well as Parker, PaperMate, Waterman, and Liquid Paper.
