Robert Oster Black Violet 50ml Ink Bottle
Robert Oster Signature Inks are handmade in Australia. The recyclable PET bottles are manufactured in Australia's first carbon neutral plastics plant. A message from Robert Oster:
"My great interest in fountain pen inks - and by extension, inks that combine many creative applications - began with the birth of my love of fountain pens in 1989. As Robert Oster Signature Inks are quite recent to the market, think of the interim between 1989 and today, as the fertile ground into which my present love of all things ink was seeded and grown.
The contents and packaging of my Inks are all nature friendly and the colors a genuine inventory of the Australian palette. Robert Oster Signature originates from one of the most famous wine producing regions of the world - the Coonawarra district of South Australia...an idyllic setting with great influence on the senses. There is my inspiration. It's a joy to share it with you."
We are authorized retailers for Robert Oster, so this bottle will come directly from the man himself.
As described, this is a very dark black violet that shades mildly to a somewhat lighter dusty-violet. (I have only used it with a Lamy medium nib.) Even when it shades, it doesn't lose much of its opacity or color value. The shading isn't nearly as dramatic as some other Robert Oster inks I've used but it's great for writing long-form daily notebook entries due to its opacity and how smooth it is. The color is refreshing and it's well-behaved; it's dark enough that it doesn't distract from my writing but still adds a subtle accent to the page. I bought a sample size and I'll probably pick up a full bottle when I can.
It's a nice shading ink that varies between extremely dark purple (almost black) to a lighter dusty purple. I love it!
I received a sample of this ink in my inkmeister box for November 21. It's a nice subdued black with a hint of violet on normal paper, but when used on thermoreactive receipt paper it becomes a teal. It doesn't stay true to color so I can't rate it 5 stars. It feels somewhat dry too. Should go great in an exceptionally wet pen.
Was for our daughter in law. She loved it!
This is a wonderfully dark ink. I received this ink as a sample in my April 2020 Inkmiester subscription box. As with most of the inks I had. They write for me darker than the image above, well the writing in the image is fairly close but that swatch not so much. I'd say it's like 70% black and 30% violet. It would be that ink you use at work if you don't want true black or business blue. It is my second favorite ink of the box.
