Tomoe River A6 Notepad
This notepad presents Tomoe River paper in appropriately refined style, with a textured black cover encased in a protective clear cover. The Tomoe River logo is embossed on the cover in gold. The notepad is sturdily built and perfect for journaling, with a comfortable lay-flat binding and 160 pages of white Tomoe River paper. The pages are in dot grid or graph style. This notepad was developed by Sakae Technical Paper, which specializes in paper products.
Tomoe River paper is renowned for its smooth texture that is perfect for fountain pens and various other writing tools. At 52 gsm, the thin and delicate pages are designed to reduce bulk. Despite its thinness, the paper is incredibly reliable. The sheets are resistant to bleedthrough and feathering, can handle a variety of inks, and are acid-free. Tomoe River paper is ideal for those who love to write, or for those who just love the feel of fine, subtle paper.
This paper is eco-friendly as well—the pulp used to make it comes from sustainable forests.
I bought this to test out Tomoe River paper to see what all of the excitement was about and see if I could get a thinner notebook. On a positive note, I did like the feel of the paper as I wrote, and it did not bleed-through or feather on any of my Pen/nib/ink combinations, but it shadows a lot.
The first thing I did was do a pen and ink test page in the back. I tried 13 different fountain pens with five different inks (using nibs EF to 1.1 stub) and every single one showed-through the page (shadowed) so severely that it would be pretty much impossible to use both sides of the sheets. The paper is nice but won't work for what I hoped to use it for. I even tried it with Fisher Space Pen ball-points and that shadowed as well. I'll give it to a friend who will use it as a scratchpad. I'll try the heavier 68 gsm Tomoe River paper and give that a go. I was hoping for something as nice as the 80gsm Clairfountaine paper in my Rhodia notebook.
