This 50ml glass bottle of Jacques Herbin 1798 Amethyste de l’Oural fountain pen ink is a deep rich purple in the velvety hue of a rare gemstone. A silver mist provides a lustrous shimmering and sheen effect.
Amethyste de l'Oural means Ural Amethyst or Ural Mountain Amethyst, and suggests the color of royalty. This ancient amethyst gemstone from the gates of Asia was prized for its calming, meditative and lucid dreaming qualities.
1798 commemorates a significant year in Jacques Herbin's history. At this time, the French Revolution was ending, and the Herbin company, founded in 1670, was growing. In 1798 the company relocated to expand their production capabilities and the influence of their inks and sealing wax.
Due to the amount of particulate in this ink used to achieve the sparking look, you may experience restricted ink flow in some of your pens. We recommend shaking the ink thoroughly before filling and gently rolling the pen in your hands often to keep the shimmer effect consistent. This will also help prevent clogging. You will also want to be diligent about cleaning and maintaining your pen when using this ink.

Itzybellababy This is such a gorgeous ink, and a pleasure to write with. I had to fill a purple pen with it, of course. It is smooth, and so far I haven't had any clogging or uneven flow. It really shows its beauty when you color with it- but it still looks nice in a normal writing process. I would love to collect this whole series.
