Made of ebony wood with gunmetal trim, the Conklin All American is an oversized yet comfortable fountain pen. Now offered with your choice of a reliable, smooth-writing German made JoWo #6 black steel nib in extra-fine, fine, medium, broad, or 1.1mm stub, or the Omniflex flexible black steel nib for variation in line width.

Each limited pen is individually numbered out of 1898 total.

The Conklin All American is impressively large in size, yet not so big as to be uncomfortable in the hand. The screw cap and barrel are carefully tapered to provide a nice balance. The trademark Rocker Clip allows users to easily secure the pen to a shirt or coat pocket. The All American comes with a threaded, standard international converter and also uses short reliable standard international cartridges.

The Conklin Pen Company was established in 1898 and is still regarded as one of the most significant and innovative manufacturers from what is today known as the Golden Era of fountain pens.

During the 1930s, at the dawn of the depression, Conklin launched a collection that was priced more affordably to the general public. The "All American" collection was offered in a variety of sizes, filling mechanisms and finishes with the aim of satisfying a growing market demand for good quality, but affordably priced writing instruments. Today this pen pays homage to the classic designs of the vintage Conklin era.

The All American collection draws its inspiration from the rich heritage of the Conklin brand, which was purchased and revived by Yafa in 2009. The rebooted All American is manufactured in Asia, assembled and distributed from Canoga Park, California, and pays tribute to its roots with a "Toledo, Ohio" engraving on its nib and barrel. This collection brings a vibrant, contemporary style to a classic, oversize streamlined design.

Doesn't write well

This really looks like the pen of my dreams, so I was so hoping that it would write just as perfectly. Unfortunately that's not the case. I got the Extra Fine and here's what I noticed while using the converter:
1. The pen would dry out within 1-2 hours and it'd take forever to start, sometimes it's even impossible unless you dip the nib a little in water.
2. I had a bit of ink leftover in the converter and didn't use the pen for a few days. When I came back all of the ink was gone...
3. With certain ink brands it worked better (e.g. Robert Oster, though if you leave it for a few hours you'll find ink residue at the tip that leads to a bit of messy writing before it becomes smooth again), with other brands it's an absolute no no (Kyo-no-oto).
This pen works best with cartridges, I believe. The Diamine cartridges did well but unfortunately the brand didn't have my favorite colors. I even tried the trick where I injected my favorite Kyo-no-to ink into the used cartridge with a syringe - it didn't work at all and the pen just wouldn't write.
It has been a hugely disappointing and frustrating experience with this beautiful pen. Truphae's customer service has been very patient and helpful, even offering for me to ship (with a prepaid label) the pen to them so they can change the nib for me. Thank you! Sadly that didn't work out and I'm left with a pen that only works with a limited few brands of ink. I won't go through the return process with Truphae since this pen has already been extensively tested and used by me, but I don't foresee myself using it very often if at all in the future. Not worth my $76 - Conklin needs to up their game.

Fantastic Buy

This pen for the price is real quality. Does not feel like a pen for under a $100 when you write with it. The Omni Flex Nib is the way to go on this. The ebony wood feels so smooth and the weight of the pen helps it glide across the paper. I have pens I have paid a lot more for that I use a lot less because I have carried this one with me since I got it a few weeks ago.
