I have wanted an All American for a while, but could not decide on finish, until I saw the Reaper. I lover the colour and depth in the resin. And to top it all off it writes beautifully.
Writes well for 2 days then stops. Repeat. I have it in to my nib guy to look at.
Superior appearance and feel.
Received the two pens. They are great, but quite som difference between the broad and the medium nib. Broad is elegant and soft.
while called the Reaper, this pen is essentially a Conklin All American. Its a large cigar shaped pen. it is very light and comfortable despite the size. the medium nib wrote out of the box, if a bit on the dry side. I also enjoyed the orange and black resin and hope Truphae comes out with other special editions of this pen.
This pen does have a gorgeous colorway. Yes, it's Halloween-y, but it's subtle enough that it's merely beautiful the rest of the year. My complaints about the pen are: It's thicker than I like. I didn't have another Conklin All-American, so in that sense I didn't know what I would be getting. That's not really a fair complaint as much as it is my personal preference. I prefer slimmer pens. Offsetting that is the nice heft and balance of this pen, so it's a wash. My real complaint is that the cap doesn't post. Again, it's preference: I prefer pens with caps that post.
Overall, I'm pleased with the pen, especially its esthetics. The rest is just preference.
