For a pen at this price point, one might expect a cheaply made fountain pen. What is presented with the Hongdian Black Forest, however, is a quite surprising experience. Made from thick metal, it features a textured, cross hatch pattern throughout the body, which is accented beautifully by a subtle, smooth finished cap and grip section. It is a cartridge/converter filling mechanism, and comes with a converter attached for use with bottled ink.

Very good pen, very good price

I have purchased two of these pens and both are serving me well. I got one in black and the other blue. I love the simple style and weight of each. The black one has had some minor scratches but that has been mostly from my every day carry and use of the pen at work. They write smoothly and feel great in my hand. The price for these pens was very affordable.

Second color, same pen - love it

I love how smoothly this pen writes and the weight of it is just fantastic. It's really becoming one of my favorite styles and you cannot beat the price.

I really want to like this pen, but I can't

This pen is sleek and has a nice weight, but the nib is scratchy and skips a lot. I don't get the smooth experience that many writers have expressed. Maybe it is just a defective one since I am the only one here that doesn't like it.

Beautiful, functional pen

I received a green black forest pen in my monthly Inkredible subscription. This pen writes so well for an economically priced pen made in China. Very smooth writing. Doesn't skip or scratch. The weight is good enough without making your hands tired. A very nice pen!
