The LAMY 2000, LAMY's flagship fountain pen, is made of a combination of Makrolon (black polycarbonate) and brushed stainless steel. This pen features a hooded rhodium-plated 14k gold nib and used a piston filling mechanism to fill from bottled ink. Note: to ensure quality performance, LAMY tests their pens as a final step in manufacturing. If you happen to see any residual blue ink, rest assured that this is normal.

I had seen numerous enthusiastic reviews of this pen, but didn't fully realize how excellent it is until I received one in a subscription box. While most reviews highlight the mid-20th century design (which may or may not appeal to you), what impressed me is how well Lamy has succeeded in the total package. It is just the right weight--not too light nor too heavy, well-balanced, smooth contour with good texture is easy to grip anywhere you like, holds lots of ink, and the gold nib has a superb feel, giving cursive letters a very subtle shaping that is distinct from most ordinary pens! A total pleasure to write with.
Writing with this is amazing! I have a Double-Broad and it feels like a paint brush! So a great writing instrument!
