I had spent some time looking for my next pen. I finally decided on the Leonardo.
Truphae is new to me, and I am very glad to have found them. Chatting with Chris was easy and pleasant. He even agreed to test the nib for me with a dip-test. It was "butter smooth". I ordered the pen and it arrived within a couple of days. Chris was write- quite a smooth writer. ( I don't expect a purveyor of pens to test every nib for pens at this price point- it's really up to the manufacturer and pen maker.)
The pen is comfortable to hold- a good size posted for my large hands, and a good weight. Now for the problem...
The nib ran quite dry. bummer. So, I have a couple of the brass shiims and was able to widen the slit in the nib. Alas, still ran dry. Could a different ink help?,Or was it pen Gremlins from another dimension?, I thought to myself. I was using Pere Noir (I do like it), so I flushed the pen (yes, I flushed when it first arrived) and inked up with Noodler's Black. The flow was much better. Then I tried an ink I like- Diamine Dark Forest. I was trepidatious at first- oh no! what if this ink doesn't work and the pen is useless and I throw it away and then someone finds it and uses it for fraud and they trace it back to me and then I go to jail???
No worries! The pen and ink work great together!
Chris reached out to ask me how it was going with the pen. I told him that the nib was dry and that he might could let Leonardo know. He was gracious and said that he would.
I use the pen everyday! It's a very good match for me.
Thank you Chris and Truphae for an excellent experience!
