The Vermilion Dragon is one of the oldest dragons in East Asian mythology. In the book The Classic of Mountains and Seas of the 4th century BC, the ancient Emperor Zhurong uses the Vermilion Dragon to fight against the god of water, Gonggong. In the myth of the four dragons that rule the 4 oceans, the Vermilion Dragon protects the south. In Asian culture, the south means fire, brightness and hope. Hence, the Vermilion Dragon is also known as the god of fire.

The Journey Among Dragons: Vermilion Dragon fountain pen is made of lacquer, gold and silver. The body of the pen in coral red lacquer with the body of a dragon engraved and the cap in sterling silver with the upper part of the dragon. These engravings are made by hand by Montblanc artisans ( Artisan Atelier de Montblanc). In the eyes of the dragon, he has two red garnets. The Montblanc star is made of mother-of-pearl encrusted with black onyx and covered with a sapphire crystal. In the cone of the body, the pen wears a garnet in reference to the fire of the "Fire Dragon".
The pen features all champagne gold finishes and its decorations are a reference to golden dragons with special attributes such as wealth, prosperity, wisdom and goodness.
The 18-karat gold nib is adorned with an engraved dragon.
This particular pen is still in its original sealed packaging. The boxes and papers have been opened to inspect the pen, but the pen itself is still in its plastic seal, as shown in the photos.
