A tribute to the author of A Remembrance of Things Past, the antiquarian design reflects Proust’s theme of the passage of time and the persistence of memory. Marcel Proust, one of the most popular French authors and philosophers of his time, fascinated readers with his books and their brilliantly observed descriptions of people and nature, and, as a charismatic figure of the fine Paris salons, he also delighted people with his rhetoric and wit. In what is probably his most important work – À la recherche du temps perdu (Remembrance of things past), Proust’s new literary stylistic device, the inner monologue, was combined masterfully with his analytical descriptions, which, in their candor, often allow readers to see themselves in them. As a great writer and thinker, Marcel Proust always strove for the maximum depth of detail and precision – an aspiration shared with the Writers Limited Edition Marcel Proust fountain pen.
Every detail of this scarce limited edition displays truly superlative craftsmanship. The trim is made of 925 sterling silver - as is the eight-sided barrel, which features fine engravings in the style typical of Proust’s main creative period (filigree was a delicate and intricate ornamentation popular at the turn of the century). The hexagonal barrel also bears the engraved signature of the writer from which it takes its name. The top of the cap is surmounted by the ivory-colored Montblanc star. The 18k gold nib features the engraving of a tiny hourglass – a reference to his greatest work À la recherche du temps perdu.
The body features a hexagonal 925 sterling silver barrel with black resin front and end-pieces. It comes fitted with an 18K two-tone gold Double Broad (BB) nib, with an hour glass motif. Outer sleeve, outer box, display box, booklet, illustrated prospectus card. It comes in pristine condition (never used and never inked) with all original boxes and papers: Outer box, display box, booklet, international service certificate, but without the white outer sleeve.
