Nice looking pen--writing not so well

A good looking pen that is a nice size and weight. Comfortable to hold. Mine would not write at all--not a trace of ink on the paper. Inspection of the nib revealed the tines were smashed so close together that there was no chance of ink flow. Some careful work on the nib got it writing, but it is still quite dry. It is a Schmidt nib (#5?) that is marked F but it writes more like an EF and is rather scratchy. (Schmidt nibs are not particularly smooth, but this is scratchier than I would expect.) Further nib tuning would no doubt be able to fix it, but it is not worth having a professional nibmeister work on such an inexpensive pen. I may get around to tweaking it myself eventually. For the price there are better pens available.

Addendum: I fooled with the nib a little more and inked the pen with Monteverde Olivine--one of the Monteverde "ITF" inks that are claimed to have improved flow. It now writes quite a bit smoother (on good paper) and plenty wet enough for regular use, although it is still a bit scratchy. (Lesson: try different inks and papers before giving up.) I am now much happier with the pen, but am standing by the 2 star review. On close inspection, it can be seen that the nib tipping material is not evenly distributed between the two tines--sloppy work by Schmidt.

I’m very pleased with both pens. Nibs, clips, cap screw threads are fine and the material is attractive. I’ll be using these quite a bit. I like the way they feel. Amazing that they’re so inexpensive.

Great Service - Bad nib

The Moonman M100 is such a beautiful pen. The fine Schmidt nib on mine was terrible. Unusable. The folk's at Truphae asked me to mail it back for a new pen. I decided to keep it and purchase a broad nib. I knew I wouldn't keep the really fine nib when I ordered the pen. Can't ask for more than the option Truphae offered me. Great folk's and I'll order from them again.
