There is absolutely nothing wrong with Ambre de Baltique. I have been looking for an ink in the yellowish gold color range. Noodler's Yellow is a beautiful true yellow, but it is not easily visible except in really good light. I looked at many colors online before I found J. Herbin Ambre de Birmani, which I absolutely love. If you have not tried it, it is a beautiful warm golden amber color. I also saw JH Ambre de Baltique which, online, looked like a good possibility so I tried a sample vial. It is a very nice color but it is a slightly browner amber color that, to me , is just not as pretty as the Ambre de Birmani. It really just comes down to what color you prefer. I like it fine, it is just not quite the golden look I wanted. BTW, if you are looking for a very nice readable golden color, I personally think the Ambre de Birmani is a prettier gold than any of the inks called gold. Just for reference I was looking for a nice yellow gold to pair with my purple TWSBI Eco to create an LSU purple and gold theme.
