Pelikan's Souveran M800 Fountain Pen in Black & Blue pairs the brand's signature striped barrel with the confident presence of a full-size piston filler. The deep blue and black cellulose acetate reveals a subtle ink view within the stripes, set against a glossy black resin cap and section, gold-plated trim, and Pelikan's beak clip. An 18k bi-color gold nib completes a design that feels both time-honored and distinctly modern.
Craftsmanship & Design
The M800's blue-black striped barrel is crafted from cellulose acetate, a material prized for its depth, chatoyance, and long-wearing durability. The cap, grip, and piston knob in high-grade black resin provide a crisp visual counterpoint while keeping the silhouette elegantly restrained. A metal piston mechanism gives the pen a reassuring balance in the hand, and the cap is topped with Pelikan's classic finial for a refined finishing touch.
Writing Experience
The M800 is known among enthusiasts for its smooth, generous flow and controlled feedback. Its 18k gold nib, finished in a two-tone treatment, glides comfortably for long sessions without fatigue. Available in a range of nib sizes from extra fine to broad, it supports everything from detailed notes to expressive signatures. The screw-in nib unit can be swapped with ease, allowing writers to fine-tune their setup as preferences evolve.
Brand Heritage
Made in Germany, the Souveran line reflects Pelikan's long tradition of precision engineering and ink expertise. The company's differential piston technology, introduced in 1929, helped define modern fountain pen filling systems and remains central to the M800's character today. The striped barrel has become an icon of the brand, recognized worldwide by collectors and daily writers alike.

I had a Pelikan 800 about 25 years ago and have always regretted selling it. I found a new M800 at Truphae at the Atlanta pen show last weekend and bought it. Broad nib, blue barrel. I am very happy with it. It writes like butter. They also sent me the original box. They have a customer for life.
