The AP Limited Editions Writer Maki-e – Native Geometry is a celebration of pattern, rhythm, and symbolic form — a bold exploration of geometry rendered in traditional urushi and maki-e technique.

A Language of Shape and Symbol

Set against a deep, mirror-black urushi base, Native Geometry unfolds in structured bands of hand-applied motifs. Each section of the pen is deliberately segmented, creating a rhythmic progression of color and form as the eye travels from finial to barrel.

The design incorporates:

  • Gold leaf diamonds and discs

  • Vermilion and coral triangles

  • Emerald and sage geometric accents
