The Monteverde Ritma collection is inspired by the minimalist movement of the 1960's and 70's, where clean lines, straightforward designs and beautiful colors within work were the most prominent. Machined to perfection using a mixture of steel and aluminum, the Ritma boasts a streamlined design from magnetic cap top to back post, perfect for those who prefer a well balanced and heavyweight pen.
Each aluminum barrel is anodized in a metallic color and treated with a matte finish, resulting in a muted pop of vibrant colors that are soft to the touch and beautifully accentuated with polished gunmetal accents. The clip is designed to match the straight lines of the body style with an extra flair, the center cut in an elongated oval shape for ease of use.
An exciting feature of this minimalist pen is the magnetic cap and posting, so secure and perfectly designed to the pen it creates a seal. No need to twist off, gently pull and enjoy the striking pop-action sound of the seal opening, then post to the back to experience the secure magnetic seal there as well.
This purple fountain pen comes with a standard international converter and an ink cartridge. The Monteverde Ritma is equipped with your choice of a reliable, smooth-writing German made JoWo #6 black steel nib in extra-fine, fine, medium, broad, 1.1mm stub, or Omniflex.
My first fountain pen was a Platinum Preppy with a Fine nib which I also love. I wanted to buy this pen because I wanted to try a different brand and a non Japanese brand.
The employee at Truphae who helped me (I don’t remember her name) suggested I try an EF nib since I like the Fine nib on my PP. There is a difference in thickness and I do prefer the fine nib on my PP but it’s not enough to make me say I don’t love the Monteverde Ritma in blue. To me, the blue in the photos is brighter than the pen itself. I find the actual color to be deeper somehow.
I have no prior experience with a magnetic cap. I really like it though as compared to my PP which partially twists off sometimes.
I enjoyed my first in person experience at Truphae and I look forward to making the nearly 3 hour drive again soon. I also will be placing an online order very soon!
There are two things I love about this pen. The magnetic cap and the smoothness of the pen when I write.
Ok, so I finally wrote with my Ritma with the Omniflex nib. I love the way it writes and the way it feels in my hands. The problem is… it skips so much. I’m using it with the converter inked in Monteverde Moonstone. When it writes, it write so beautifully. But it skips every couple words. Sometimes every few words. I have to stop, shake it hard a few times. And if that doesn’t work I have took adjust the converter twisting it until there’s no air in it and the ink is right at the opening. I’m suuuuper bummed about this. I’m not sure why I’m having this problem. I saw a YouTube review where the reviewer said they’re non kept drying out really fast. Like, it would dry out within 10-20 seconds of not writing. they literally showed it doing it multiple times in the video. Is that what’s happening to mine? I’d really appreciate it if someone from Truphae can email me and maybe give me some tips on what I can do to prevent this. Because this pen has SO much potential. Btw, this pen’s turquoise color is stunning! And I love the magnetic cap. Everything about it is beautiful. I just need it to write consistently :(
I received this pen as part of my monthly subscription along with the MonteVerde Moonstone Ink. It has the Omniflex Nib and I couldn't be more excited! This is my first flex nib and I've been wanting to try one! This pen has a nice weight to it. Not too heavy and not too light. It feels great in my hand. I absolute love the magnetic close cap. The sound "snap" it makes is very satisfying. It writes beautifully and I love that I can create different sized strokes with just a little bit of pressure. This was my first monthly subscription box and it's a huge win! I can't wait to see what they pick out for next month. It's such a fun surprise every month! Highly recommend!
For my first two subscription boxes, I received this pen. One with their calligraphic nib and the other with a standard medium nib. Both are beautiful pens and they hold up very well. I use them constantly and my only complaint is that my traditional nib scratches at my papers and sometimes puts a hole in them while writing (I write very lightly) basic information. For the calligraphy nibbed pen, my only issue is when the refillable cartridge leaks after refilling with fresh ink. It stops after writing with it for a while but it is definitely not an ink and go pen but rather an ink write a journal entry then go pen. I love these two pens if not for that slight issue with both.
