Kyoto TAG Kyo-no-Oto No. 10 Ochiguriiro captures a refined, earthy brown drawn from Kyoto's historic color traditions. Subtle red undertones lend warmth and depth, making this a thoughtful everyday shade that reads beautifully for notes, letters, and journaling while maintaining excellent legibility.

Craftsmanship & Color

The Kyo-no-Oto collection interprets classical Japanese hues with a modern writing sensibility. Ochiguriiro sits in the sweet spot between rich sepia and understated umber, offering natural nuance rather than flat saturation. On the page, its tone evokes aged wood and late-autumn palettes, with gentle shifts in value that feel organic and composed.

Writing Experience

Balanced flow supports clean, consistent lines across a wide range of nibs. Finer points bring a crisp, document-friendly brown, while broader and wetter nibs encourage soft shading that adds character without overwhelming the text. It pairs well with everyday papers and rewards higher-quality sheets with more visible tonal variation.

Long name, wonderful ink

This was the very first ink I received in a box from Truphae and I immediately fell in love with it. It's my favorite brown I've used, and I always keep at least one pen inked with it. It's a relatively wet write, but well behaved, and you will see some differences depending on the nib you use.
When using an F nib, normally my Vanishing Point, it will give a bit lighter brown line though not too light.
When using a B nib, as in my TWSBI 580ALR, it can show hints of a dark red-orange.
Just ordered a 2nd bottle to make sure I always have some on hand. :)
