The David Oscarson Carl Linnaeus Rollerball Pen – Black Moss is a masterful tribute to one of history’s most influential scientists, Carl Linnaeus, whose work in botanical classification shaped our understanding of the natural world. As the nineteenth collection in the David Oscarson series, this edition reflects a deep reverence for nature through intricate design, layered craftsmanship, and exceptional attention to detail.

The Black Moss colorway features a rich, translucent dark enamel base layered over multi-level guilloché engraving, allowing the engraved patterns beneath to subtly reveal themselves through the surface. This interplay of depth and light is further enhanced by seven distinct colors of hand-applied hard enamel, forming delicate botanical motifs inspired by Linnaeus’ lifelong study of plants and natural forms.

Each pen is crafted using traditional techniques rarely seen in modern penmaking. The process begins with solid precious metal components, which are meticulously engraved before multiple layers of enamel are applied by hand. Each layer is kiln-fired at high temperatures and polished repeatedly, resulting in a luminous, glass-like surface with remarkable depth and clarity.
