Fleeting petals caught in a spring gust inspired the Pilot Namiki Yukari Maki-e Fountain Pen - Sakura Fubuki, a refined writing instrument that unites Japanese urushi artistry with the everyday grace of a portable luxury pen. The Yukari format balances presence and poise, giving the hand-painted cherry blossom motif space to breathe while remaining comfortable for extended writing.
Each Sakura Fubuki pen is built on an ebonite foundation and finished with multiple layers of natural urushi lacquer. Namiki artisans apply and polish the lacquer by hand, then paint the swirling cherry blossoms with fine maki-e work using precious metal powders. The composition evokes the delicate motion of petals in the air, with subtle depth from the lacquer layers that reveal a quiet glow under changing light.
Executed by members of Kokkokai, Namiki’s esteemed collective of maki-e artists, the design displays the measured restraint and balance that define the Yukari series. Gold-plated accents frame the artwork without overpowering it, while the pen’s proportions remain elegantly slim and thoughtfully weighted for daily use.
The 18k gold Fine nib offers a refined, controlled line with the smooth, quietly tactile feel for which Namiki is celebrated.
