Delta Indigenous People Sterling Silver Fountain Pen – Simbu (Limited Edition)

The Delta Indigenous People Simbu Fountain Pen is one of the most visually striking pieces in Delta’s celebrated Indigenous People Collection, a series dedicated to honoring cultures and traditions from around the world through detailed craftsmanship and symbolic design. This particular edition pays tribute to the Simbu people of Papua New Guinea, whose dramatic ceremonial traditions inspired the pen’s distinctive skeletal motif.

The pen’s design draws inspiration from the Simbu’s famous “Skeleton Dance,” where warriors paint their bodies as skeletal figures during ritual performances to symbolize the connection between the living and the spirit world. This powerful imagery is translated into the pen through an intricate sterling silver skeletal “armor” that wraps around the barrel, creating a dramatic lattice of bones over the underlying resin body.

Crafted in solid 925 sterling silver, the overlay is produced using the lost-wax casting technique, then meticulously hand-finished to achieve crisp detail and depth. The result is a sculptural surface that feels both architectural and organic, transforming the pen into a wearable piece of art as much as a writing instrument.

The clip itself carries symbolic meaning as well, shaped to evoke the traditional tribal drums used in Simbu ceremonial music and dance. These cultural references reinforce the pen’s purpose as more than a luxury object—it is a tribute to heritage and storytelling through design.

Technically, the Simbu fountain pen is equally impressive. It features a large #8 14K gold nib paired with a red ebonite feed, delivering the smooth ink flow and expressive writing experience expected from Delta’s high-end pens. The pen utilizes a fixed piston filling system, offering generous ink capacity and reliable performance.

The sterling silver version is produced in a limited edition of just 388 fountain pens worldwide, adding significant collectible appeal to an already remarkable design.

Bold, sculptural, and deeply symbolic, the Delta Simbu stands as one of the most dramatic expressions of the Indigenous People series—blending cultural storytelling with the artistry and engineering of modern Italian penmaking.
