The Leonardo Cigar LeonArco “Abalone” Fountain Pen is an exceptional Italian handcrafted instrument that showcases some of the rarest and most admired celluloid material in fine penmaking. Made by Leonardo Officina Italiana, this special edition is crafted from authentic LeonArco Abalone celluloid, a layered celluloid blend assembled in-house through a complex manual process. The result is rich depth, warmth, and the distinctive camphor scent of true celluloid — characteristics that set it apart from mass-produced resins and make each pen uniquely beautiful.
Built in the classic Cigar shape, the LeonArco Abalone is perfectly aligned from cap through barrel and section, with every piece turned by hand on a manual lathe in Leonardo’s Italian workshop. Elegant details include a “ruzzolina” clip, rosegold trim, and a double weave band in 925-solid silver, adding refined contrast and a touch of luxury to the vibrant material.
At the heart of this pen is a generous #8 14K gold nib, delivering a smooth, rich writing experience with excellent ink flow. The integrated piston filler provides a huge 1.5 ml ink capacity — perfect for long writing sessions — and the pen’s feed is crafted from Japanese red ebonite right in Leonardo’s workshop. The design even allows disassembly of the piston mechanism with a specialized wrench for cleaning or service.
