Anyone who has read my previous reviews will likely think I am over-critical about the pens I have bought. Maybe so, but when I spend this kind of money on a pen, I expect it to actually be a pen and write, not just something that looks great in my display box.
The Nettuno 1911 Neos is a beautiful pen in terms of appearance, the matt and gloss gold furniture is different and very eye-appealing. The resin is gorgeous and visually, most attractive.
That is it for the positives.
First it is a dry writer. When it does actually write, it is decent and fairly smooth. But, it will dry out in a matter of minutes and then you have to persuade it to actually start putting ink on the paper. Then, after a few sentences the ink flow will stop altogether.
Now, I do not know about other peoples expectations, but I have many $20 pens that will write rings around this. Why, for almost $200 cannot this manufacturer make a pen that actually WORKS ?
I prefer broad and stub nibs. I have a squadron of Conklins with stub nibs that are all better than this Nettuno, both in terms of smoothness and ink flow. Why for instance can I pick up a 50 year old Parker 51 that has been sitting in my display box for months, and it writes immediately when this pen won't write after sitting for an hour or two?
This is a brand I will not be buying again.
