Very Good Vintage Condition - No Box

Produced from 1965-1972, this pen was created directly after Montblanc scrapped the two part body, which had a grip section that would unscrew from the barrel. This pen featured a piston-unit that was friction-fit rather than being screwed in. The use of a more resin construction, such as the piston threads, created the lightest weigh 149 ever created. Later models featured brass threads, which added a significant amount of weight. It also features the most popular feed ever used by Montblanc - ebonite. It allows for smooth ink flow no matter how fast or slow the user is writing. This unique build construction makes this one of the most sought-after 149s by collectors.

Writing instruments from Montblanc stand out through their unmistakable elegance and exquisite workmanship. They accompany their owner for life. Over the course of its history, the characteristic Montblanc pen has become a timeless classic. The unmistakable Montblanc emblem decorates the cap of each writing instrument.

The Meisterstück 149 - a design that writes history. Deep black precious resin with gold-coated details, surmounted by the white star emblem and finished with a handcrafted Au 750 gold nib, evolves into Montblanc's design icon.

This particular pen is in a rare mint preowned condition. To find a 60 year old pen in this condition, with a flawless 18C Gold nib, is very rare. It comes with the original boxes and papers.

Vouching for the description

I own one of these, purchased in 1973, manufactured before that. I gazed at it in the local jewelry shop for several years as I saved up the money for it. After reading the description, I refreshed the ink in my 149 and it writes like a king. Wow. Of all my pens, and I own and use and love many, this 149 is the top of my collection. It's an extra-fine, but it writes like a fine architect grind, wider horizontally than vertically. A tiny bit of flex lets me get a heavy ink flow when I want it. It has absolutely no starting issues, even after weeks of neglect. No flow problems, never a skip or railroad. It's really kind of amazing. I have plenty of great, expensive pens, but none of them have the absolutly flawless, reliable, never-distracting performance of this 149.
