This month I received the Kaweco Bronze Sport Special Edition and a bottle of Monteverde USA Citrine Ink. I am absolutely thrilled!! The ink is a great match for the pen. The pen writes beautifully and is very comfortable in the hand.
After reading several reviews of the premium collectors box, I decided to take the plunge and subscribe. I was very excited, and when my first box arrived, I was mildly disappointed to see that it did not arrive in the pretty decorative box pictured above. I did not mind too much as I understand we are all trying to be more sustainable, but I would be disappointed if I were giving this as a gift to someone as the box would make the gift see much nicer. My preferences were to have just pens and ink in my box. I received a nice, bright, pink ink, which is fine as I had requested colors even though I may not personally use pink very much, I was pleased that my preference was taken into account. I also received a LAMY pen sleeve. This was a little surprising since, while nice, I did not want anything other than pens and inks. However, I understood why it was included after I opened the pen. At first, I was more than a little shocked that the ‘premium’ pen was a Kaweco. I have nothing against this company, and in fact, own several of their pens, but I don’t think of them as ‘premium.’ I went ahead and opened the box and was very pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful Liliput Fireblue in a fine nib. I would never have chosen a Liliput pen for myself, as I prefer, heftier, more showy pens. This particular pen from their collection is stunning. And because of its tiny size, I now understood why the pen sleeve was included. My preferences had stated that I like colorful pens, and I like companies like Esterbrook and Sailor. I am not sure that all three items together would equal the $200 or more amount of value, but since I used the promo code, it was considerably more than a good value. I still don’t quite understand what the extra five dollars for a premium box gets you, but I don’t have any complaints so far. I am looking forward to my next box!
I've been a subscsriber for a while and really enjoyed the nice choices, for example, Esterbrook and Montegrappa, but of late, the boxes have been disappointments. What, another Lamy? (I like Lamy a lot, but I don't need another Studio.) This month, though, was the nadir with the Paninfarina. It's a slick-looking, modern pen. But it doesn't post. OK, I'll overlook that. Then I wrote with it. It's too thin, so it's uncomfortable. Worse yet, it's not a great writer, pretty scratchy. And while I'm here, one more point: Why is it that all I ever get are M nib pens? You asked for a preference when I siagned up, and I chose B, but it seems there's no chance of my ever getting one. What's the point of asking for a preference? Overall, I like Truphae and the good customer service, but you really have to get with it on the premium box, or I'm cancelling my subscription.
Customer service reached out to me after a negative review and completely resolved the issue. I really do love this company.
The premium box has brought to my attention pens and inks I am now enjoying but prior to which flew under the radar. I can't wait to see what's coming down the pike, keenly anticipating every month's offering with a sense of fun and delight. Keep up the good work!
