So, I'm pretty new to the fountain pen hobby. And admittedly, I don't know as much as some who've been in it for a longer time. But I feel like this sub box, at this price point, is an incredible deal! What I paid was $30, but I got $40+ in the ink and pen! Who'd have thought they'd send a Perkeo as the 'test' pen?! I was expecting probably a Jinhao or something similar. If you're wondering if you should get this, at least get yourself a one-time box. See if you like it! But be warned: you will!
The value of my box did not exceed what I paid. It may have been cheaper than their sites costs but not cheaper than Amazon. Still evaluating if I will continue after the trail. This would need to change if I were to continue.
I love the ink. It is not something that I would have bought for myself. It made me realize why my father love fountain pens. In addition, they added the Kaweco pen. I love the inkmeister premium monthly subscription that I decided to just discontinue it and upgrade to the premium penthusiast monthly subscription.
As always excellent!! It is so much fun opening the box and find my pen and ink surprise. Never disappoints and the best it always arrived a little early!!
I started this review once but had a computer glitch. Waiting for these boxes is like being a kid again waiting for Christmas--torture. 1 month never seemed so long. My first box ($30) contained a Special Edition LAMY Safari in aqua sky with a Medium Nib listed as $29.60 on multiple sites. Admittedly I have a Safari with a Fine Nib but it is my favorite writer and I don't mind having another with a slightly wider stroke. Also in the box was a bottle of Monteverde Jungle Toucan ink which is described as a "rich" black that darkens as it dries and contains "ITF" tehnology that allegedly lubricates the feed and improves flow and minimizes clogging. I have made myself wait to try it until I use up the ink in one of the 6 pens I have going--I'm not one who wants my inkfills to last longer with 800 + colors to try! My next box should be coming in a week or two. So far I've obviously gotten more than my monies worth...
