This was my first box and I'll definitely be getting more. The Monteverde Ritma is way fancier than I probably would have chosen for myself. And getting to try out a 1.1mm nib was great. Not necessarily my jam, but definitely something to play around with and find the perfect occasion for. I'm very pleased with the Key Lime ink. It's wetter than the inks I've used before, but it is so vibrant and really catches the attention.
A $17 retail pen and $8 angry grade school teacher red ink was most disappointing and far less than I would expect advertised as a premium subscription. Less than the cost of the subscription The first box I also felt was disappointing but this one was surprisingly so
After 6 months of receiving the premium box, I’ve come to the conclusion I would have been better off if I saved up and bought a couple pens that better matched my style and inks that were the type and colors I actually need. I was hoping I had enough points to go toward a variety of inks I was going to buy, but it doesn’t work that way. I had a detailed review on 6 pens, three I love and three that were irritating. As an artist, the inks were just as fun for me. But I haven’t tested all they could do yet.
I do like what I’ve gotten, but when I asked about the subscription initially I was told that the third box was free. I’ve never gotten a free box and that was disappointing. I asked about that in particular because I was unsure how it worked. I guess I am still unsure.
