Molten Depth in Layered Urushi
The body reveals a dynamic field of ember-red and fiery orange suspended within darker lacquer tones. The effect is achieved through multiple hand-applied layers of natural urushi lacquer, with metallic particulates and pigment transitions embedded between coats.
The finish is high-gloss, allowing the composition to feel almost liquid — as if molten rock were frozen mid-flow beneath glass.
Unlike textured Ishiji work, Obsidian Flare relies on depth rather than surface relief. The visual drama comes from contrast and layering:
