A Cosmic Field in Matte Urushi

Unlike high-gloss urushi compositions, Among the Stars features a refined matte lacquer finish, softening reflections and allowing the embedded maki-e work to become the true focal point.

The base is a deep charcoal-black — nearly void-like — providing the perfect backdrop for suspended fragments of iridescent raden and metallic maki-e particulate. These fragments shift in tone depending on angle and light:

  • Emerald green

  • Sapphire blue

  • Violet and amethyst flashes

  • Subtle turquoise glints
