The AP Limited Editions Urushi Lacuqer Art Fountain Pen - Midori Stardust combines the depth of Midori tamenuri with a field of fine red sparkle, creating a finish that changes character dramatically with angle and light.

Urushi Finish

Midori tamenuri builds translucent urushi over a green foundation so the pen can appear almost black or deep burgundy across the broader surfaces, while brighter green emerges along edges and areas where the upper lacquer reads more transparently. That layered color behavior is central to the appeal of tamenuri: the finish is meant to reveal depth rather than present one uniform shade.

Across this darker surface, red sparkles add a second visual register. They remain restrained in softer light, then become more pronounced as the pen is turned. A bamboo-style clip introduces an organic sculptural detail against the polished lacquer body.
