The AP Limited Editions Writer Maki-e Fountain Pen – Red and Raden is a striking celebration of color, texture, and traditional Japanese lacquer artistry. Combining vivid red urushi lacquer with shimmering shell inlay, this edition showcases the dramatic interplay between bold color and luminous natural materials—an aesthetic that rewards both distance and close inspection.

The pen is built upon a foundation of brilliant red urushi, a lacquer derived from the sap of the urushi tree and prized for its depth, durability, and mirror-like finish. Over this radiant backdrop, artisans apply an intricate gradation of raden shell inlay, creating a flowing transition of iridescent tones along the pen’s surface.
