Handmade in South Carolina
Carolina Pen Company was founded by artist and penmaker Jonathon Brooks, whose individually made writing instruments are built around the relationship between color, form, and everyday function. Brooks is especially known for creating his own resin materials in-house, allowing the material and finished pen to develop as parts of the same artistic process rather than as separate components.
Because the resin is poured and blended by hand, its pattern is inherently individual. Areas of blue and green may dominate differently from one pen to another, while lighter pearlescent passages create depth between the stronger colors. The Charlotte Design
The Charlotte model is defined by flat cap and barrel ends, a gently tapered body, and a pinched gripping section. There is little visual step between the barrel and cap threads, allowing the profile to remain smooth and continuous when the pen is uncapped.
At approximately 5.5 inches capped, the Charlotte offers substantial presence without becoming oversized. The body is shaped and polished individually, giving the transition between the section, barrel, and cap the softer character of hand-turned work rather than mass-produced molding.

The pen is designed around a polished #6 JoWo stainless steel nib, a widely respected German-made writing unit known for dependable ink flow and straightforward maintenance. The cartridge-converter filling system accepts standard international cartridges or bottled fountain pen ink through the included converter. The resin barrel may also be used as an eyedropper when properly prepared, though cartridge or converter filling remains the most convenient option for regular writing.
