The Conklin 1898 Rollerball Pen - No Name places a dramatic Jonathan Brooks resin at the center of a substantial, vintage-inspired writing instrument. Swirls of teal, silvery pearl, charcoal, and deep black move through the material with the fluid character of mineral veining and storm-lit water, ensuring that no two examples share precisely the same pattern.

A Limited Jonathan Brooks Resin

The No Name resin was created by Jonathan Brooks of the Carolina Pen Company, whose hand-poured materials are known for layered color, depth, and organic movement. Conklin selected the material for an exceptionally small rollerball edition limited to only 12 individually numbered pieces. Bright chrome-plated trim keeps the presentation crisp and allows the resin to remain the dominant visual feature.

The 1898 Collection

Conklin traces its history to 1898, when the company emerged during the formative years of the American writing instrument industry. The modern 1898 model uses a balanced cigar-shaped profile and decorative cap band to reference that heritage without reproducing a specific archival pen. Its generous dimensions give the resin enough surface area to reveal its full pattern.

Writing Experience

The rollerball format provides a smooth, fluid writing experience while keeping operation straightforward and refill-based. The threaded cap may be posted for writers who prefer additional length, and the universal rollerball refill format makes ongoing use simple without the filling and cleaning requirements of a fountain pen.

Collector Perspective

The appeal of this edition lies in the meeting of three distinct identities: Conklin's American heritage, the modern 1898 silhouette, and a small-production artisan resin. With only 12 rollerballs made, the natural variation of the Jonathan Brooks material makes each individually numbered example visually distinct within an already exceptionally limited release.
