Delta Indigenous People Gold Vermeil Fountain Pen – Simbu (Limited Edition)

The Delta Indigenous People Simbu Gold Vermeil Fountain Pen is one of the most dramatic interpretations within Delta’s celebrated Indigenous People collection—a series that honors cultural traditions from around the world through symbolic design and meticulous Italian craftsmanship. This edition pays tribute to the Simbu people of Papua New Guinea, whose ceremonial traditions and striking visual symbolism inspired the pen’s sculptural skeletal motif.

The design references the Simbu’s legendary “Skeleton Dance,” a ritual in which warriors paint their bodies as skeletal spirits to intimidate enemies and honor their connection to the ancestral world. Delta translates this powerful imagery into an intricate skeletal armor overlay, wrapping the pen’s barrel in a lattice of “bones” that echoes the tribal body paint used during these ceremonies.

In the Gold Vermeil edition, this sculptural framework is crafted from solid 925 sterling silver and then plated in rich yellow gold, creating a luminous golden cage over the deep black resin barrel beneath. The overlay is produced using the lost-wax casting technique, allowing extraordinary detail and dimensional depth before being carefully hand-finished by artisans.

Symbolism continues in the clip, which is shaped to evoke the traditional tribal drums used in Simbu ceremonial music and dance—an element that reinforces the cultural narrative behind the design.

Technically, the Simbu Vermeil is built as a serious writing instrument. It features a large #8 14K gold nib paired with a red ebonite feed, delivering the smooth, generous ink flow that Delta enthusiasts expect. The pen utilizes a fixed piston filling system, offering substantial ink capacity and reliable performance.

This particular Gold Vermeil version is limited to only 88 fountain pens worldwide, making it significantly rarer than the sterling silver edition and especially desirable among collectors of the Indigenous People series.

Bold, symbolic, and deeply sculptural, the Delta Simbu Vermeil stands as both a remarkable writing instrument and a powerful tribute to the traditions that inspired it—blending cultural storytelling with the artistry of modern Italian penmaking.
