Smooth writing using the simple black cartridge. The pen it’s self is a bit thick for someone with small hands. As much as I like the idea of the screw on lid, it doesn’t work well when you are trying to move at a quicker pace. The red color of the pen is lovely. Also, I can’t wait to try out the foggy green ink at some point!
As a new fountain pen owner, I was very frustrated by the empty ink inserts (I still don't know what to call them). I struggled to figure out how to fill them (and how to get them into the pen without making a mess). As of today, one pent works beautifully - smoothly and flawless - and the other skips and scratches. I have no idea what I did wrong. I did say in my "special requests" section that I was new to this world.
I did really enjoy the box, LOVED the ink and was really delighted by the option to get a full bottle! I do have a stronger preference for more notebooks, inks, and cases than pens and I’m not sure the preferences selections are noted or paid attention to entirely well? I’m not too strong in my opinions on that, and the pen I got was quite nice, although I’m curious to see what else might come in the future. The box was certainly fun to receive and worth the money, I’ll be sticking around for a bit!
This looked like a good way to get into quality fountain pens. Not sure how much the special requests come into play as I requested them to avoid some colors and was sent the colors I asked to avoid in my first box, but at least they were nice versions of colors I dislike. Ultimately, so far so good.
This is a great idea and I enjoy the anticipation of the monthly box. I pay the $5 extra for the full ink bottle. I like it is always a newer ink that has been released. I also like that they listen to you. If you give feedback they adjust. They look at your order history as well. I like their exclusives and since I have collected for years they are pens I don’t have. The value of the box is always fair. My one issue is I want a box that has pen, ink, paper or a sleeve. At least 3 out of 4 so it’s more curated. Most months it’s a pen and bottle of ink.
