The Lamy Al Star is somewhat sleeker and more comfy than the original Safari pens we've all got. I like the weight and cover on this rollerball.
Some time ago I switched exclusively to Pilot Precise v5 (occasionally a v7) and even though I ordered this rollerball only to get a nicer color body for my LAMY Al-Star EMR Stylus (I really don't like the black body) I tried writing with it and it was amazing. This pen has replaced my Pilot Precise and I even ordered a couple more Al-Star pens in other colors so I wasn't stuck with the black body. I also ordered a blue refill (my preferred color) and it is just as great. The only drawback I see is that they do NOT write nearly as well on the "Write In The Rain" notebook paper as the Pilot Precise does, small price to pay for how much better they are everywhere else.
