The Montblanc Meisterstuck 146 Solitaire Citrine LeGrand Fountain Pen is one of the more distinctive precious-finish interpretations of the classic 146 platform. The design pairs a warm citrine-lacquered cap with a gold-plated metal barrel and fittings, giving the familiar LeGrand silhouette a richer, more decorative character than the standard precious-resin version.

Craftsmanship & Design

Built on the Meisterstuck 146 LeGrand architecture, the Solitaire Citrine combines a substantial gold-plated metal barrel with a lacquered cap in a warm bronze-citrine tone. Gold-plated appointments continue the tonal treatment, while the white Montblanc emblem at the cap top preserves the unmistakable Meisterstuck identity.

The finish has long since been discontinued, and surviving examples in genuinely unused condition are increasingly difficult to find. Its combination of lacquer, plated metal, and classic 146 proportions gives the model an unusual presence within the broader Solitaire family.

Writing Experience

This example is fitted with an 18k gold Fine nib and uses Montblanc’s integrated piston filling system. The Fine point offers a precise, controlled everyday line, while the piston mechanism provides generous ink capacity and keeps the pen fully self-contained for bottled-ink use.

Collector Significance

The Solitaire Citrine is a discontinued LeGrand configuration that sits outside the better-known sterling-silver and pinstripe variants. This example is in true New Old Stock condition, making it especially appealing for collectors seeking a complete-period Montblanc experience rather than a restored or lightly used example.
