The Montblanc Meisterstuck 146 Sterling Silver Barley LeGrand Fountain Pen combines the familiar proportions and piston-filling architecture of the 146 LeGrand with an exceptionally distinctive solid sterling-silver exterior. Finished in Montblanc’s classic barley pattern, the engraved surface gives the pen a richly textured appearance while retaining the restrained formality associated with the Meisterstuck line.
The cap and barrel are crafted in 925 sterling silver and decorated with a tightly patterned barley engraving that catches the light across the full surface of the pen. Polished trim, the traditional Montblanc white-star emblem, and the black resin section provide contrast against the silver body. The resulting design is more substantial and decorative than a standard resin 146 while remaining unmistakably part of the Meisterstuck family.
The 146 LeGrand format is one of Montblanc’s most enduring fountain-pen designs, balancing a generous writing size with a profile that remains practical for regular use. An integrated ink window provides a view of the remaining ink supply, while the internal piston mechanism draws ink directly from a bottle without the need for cartridges or a removable converter.
This example is fitted with an 18k gold Fine nib. The Fine point offers a controlled everyday line with the smooth, cushioned feel associated with Montblanc’s larger gold nibs, making it well suited to correspondence, notes, and longer writing sessions.
