The Montblanc Meisterstuck Solitaire Doue Black & Gold Stripe Ballpoint Pen adds a more decorative precious-finish treatment to the familiar Classique ballpoint silhouette. Glossy black precious resin is paired with a gold-plated cap cut by fine black lacquer stripes, creating a formal two-tone design with a distinctly Art Deco character.
Craftsmanship & Design
The lower barrel is finished in deep black precious resin, while the cap is gold plated and decorated with vertical black lacquer striping. Gold-plated fittings continue the warm metallic theme through the clip, rings, and cone, while the white Montblanc emblem provides the familiar visual anchor at the cap top.
The striped cap is the defining visual feature. Rather than relying on engraving or a patterned resin, Montblanc creates contrast through alternating lacquer and metal, giving the cap a crisp linear rhythm that feels more architectural than ornate.
Writing Experience
A twist-action mechanism deploys the ballpoint refill smoothly and keeps the exterior uncluttered when the pen is closed. The Classique proportions make it comfortable for everyday use, while the Solitaire Doué construction gives the pen considerably more visual presence than a standard resin Meisterstück. It accepts standard Montblanc ballpoint refills, so continued use does not require any special consumables.
Collector Context
This Black & Gold Stripe Solitaire Doué configuration is discontinued, making complete unused examples increasingly appealing to collectors who prefer older precious-finish Meisterstück variants. Its combination of lacquer striping, gold plating, and classic proportions places it between Montblanc’s routine production pens and its more elaborate numbered editions. This example is preserved in New Old Stock condition with its original boxes and papers.
