The 2015 Montblanc Writers Edition Leo Tolstoy is built around a deliberate contradiction. Tolstoy was born into the Russian aristocracy and became one of the world's most celebrated novelists, yet later in life he rejected much of the privilege associated with his class and embraced manual labor, rural simplicity, and moral self-examination. Montblanc uses that tension between refinement and plain living as the organizing idea behind the edition.

The rollerball combines a dark grey precious-resin cap with a hammered silver-tone metal barrel and platinum-coated fittings.
