The Montegrappa Fortuna Ca$h Rose Gold Ballpoint Pen is one of the most unapologetically playful interpretations of the Fortuna platform. Created as a tongue-in-cheek celebration of “bling” culture, the Ca$h edition covers the black resin body in raised dollar-sign motifs and pairs the design with rose-gold-plated trim for a finish that is intentionally bold, humorous, and unmistakably Montegrappa.
Craftsmanship & Design
The pen begins with the familiar Fortuna silhouette, but nearly every exterior detail is altered for the Ca$h theme. Raised dollar signs run across the cap and barrel, the roller-style clip carries its own currency motif, and the cap top is set with a clear crystal-like accent. Rose-gold-plated trim adds warmth against the matte black resin and gives the pen the flashy, high-contrast appearance the collection was designed to embrace.
Even the original presentation was part of the joke: the Ca$h series was supplied in packaging designed to resemble stacks of currency. That sense of excess is deliberate, making the pen less about understated luxury and more about Montegrappa allowing its sense of humor to take over an otherwise practical everyday model.
Writing Experience
The ballpoint uses a twist-action mechanism, keeping operation quick and uncomplicated. Standard Montegrappa-compatible ballpoint refills make the pen practical for regular use despite its novelty-driven exterior. The Fortuna body is comfortably sized for everyday writing and offers a familiar balance for anyone already accustomed to the broader Fortuna family.
Collector Context
The Ca$h collection is discontinued and has become one of the more memorable themed Fortuna releases because it leaned so heavily into visual humor without abandoning Montegrappa’s normal construction standards. Complete examples with original packaging are increasingly uncommon, and the rose-gold-trim version is particularly distinctive against the black patterned body. This example is in mint preowned condition with its original boxes and papers.
