Introduced as Monteverde’s 2022 Ritma Pen of the Year, this edition pairs a carbon-fiber barrel with polished gunmetal accents for a modern look that feels more performance-oriented than the collection’s anodized color finishes.
Craftsmanship & Design
The Ritma takes its inspiration from the minimalist design language of the 1960s and 1970s, emphasizing straight lines, balanced proportions, and straightforward functionality. The Carbon Fiber edition keeps that architecture intact while adding a woven carbon-fiber surface that gives the barrel extra visual depth. Gunmetal trim complements the darker material, including the elongated clip and cleanly finished appointments.
One of the Ritma’s defining features is its magnetic cap system. The cap pulls free with a firm magnetic release and can also post magnetically on the back of the barrel, eliminating threads while still providing a secure closure. The metal construction gives the pen a substantial feel in hand without making the design feel bulky.
Writing Experience
The Ritma Carbon Fiber uses a standard international cartridge/converter filling system, making it easy to switch between bottled ink and cartridges. Its #6 black steel nib is available in Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad, 1.1mm Stub, and Omniflex. The conventional nib sizes cover everyday writing preferences from precise to expressive, while the Omniflex offers a softer writing feel and modest line variation with controlled pressure.

I am enjoying writing with this, it has a bit of weight, which has not been a problem, though I have not written with it for long periods of time. It caps and posts with a satisfying click because of the magnets. The only drawback I've noticed is a tendency for the barrel to loosen slightly, but a quick twist and I'm back in business. I ordered mine with a stub nib, and currently have it inked with Diamine Moonlight, and am using it to write out all of my Christmas tags. It is a really enjoyable pen.
This pen is incredible. The magnetic cap clicks on with confidence and ensures that it doesn't get lost.
