Monteverde Strata Blue Fountain Pen
Originally introduced in the mid 2000̥s, Strataå» delighted the pen industry, with its slim design, reliability, and dynamic use of color. Each Strataå» is carefully machined to perfection before it is coated in high-quality metallic lacquer. Hand assembled with polished chrome accents and completed with a 3 tiered cap-top for a unique and stunning finish. The long, sweeping clip is easy to use and
adorned with the famous Monteverde USAå¬ mountains logo along the top, while the end of the cap-top displays the same logo encapsulated in black resin for contrast. The fountain pen has a screw-cap mechanisium protecting the nib. Hand polished, the Strataå» collection is available in a selection of rich metallic sheens; Turquoise, Blue, Red, or glossy Black. Slim and sleek, this collection is ideal for travel or as a daily writer, fitting beautifully in agendas and organizers. The fountain pen̥s stainless steel nib is available in Extra Fine, Fine, Medium, Broad, and Stub sizes, and uses a threaded ink converter or ink cartridge (included). Fountain pen fills with standard international ink cartridges and ballpoint accepts P1 and P4 refills. Each Strataå» pen is housed in a newly designed slim gift box.
I have obtained new converters for the Strata. The fit is not as secure as I would like, but it is not loose as was the one included with the pen. This could easily be a 5 star pen, if only the converter was good to begin with. The pen is light, it requires little to no weight on the non to get the ink flowing. It is also well balanced. I love it, minus the fit of the converter.
The pen is perfectly sized to put in a planner or portfolio. The weight is well balanced and the cap posts securely. I have yet to write with it due to the converter not mating well with the nib. It is loose and will not seat. It is a threaded converter, but there are no threads on the interior of the pen to secure it. I have yet to add ink since I do not want a mess to clean up. I have ordered some new converters and upon delivery, I will update this review if I can actually write with the pen. I want to rate it higher, but cannot at this time. I understand this is a sub $40 pen, yet I have $8 fountain pens which have a converter which fits perfectly
