Monteverde Sweet Life Chocolate Pudding Ink Bottle
Brown was not a color I ever even thought about trying. I mean, it's brown, right? (Yawn) After I had placed a few orders with Truphae they offered me a bottle of Monteverde Sweet Life Chocolate Pudding. At the time I was about to place an order anyway so why not give it a try. Now, I am not super adventurous when it comes to trying new inks, but I do like having a select of colors to choose from. Although I have a number of oddball samples I prefer plain inks, ie, no shimmer, sheen, etc. And I like inks that, to me, boldly represent the color. So my favorite red is Diamine Wild Strawberry, favorite purple is Diamine Imperial Purple, J. Herbin Ambre de Birmani for a good visible gold/yellow/amber, Monteverde Horizon Blue, etc. I am still looking for a green that grabs me. Anyway, if I had been looking for a brown, the Monteverde Sweet Life Chocolate Pudding would have been exactly the color I wanted. As reviewer Karl said, it is a "...rich, deep, chocolate brown..." that says "BROWN!" It is neither so dark that it almost looks black, nor so light it looks tan. It is just lovely brown. It really does look like chocolate pudding. I just received a little Kaweco Sport with double broad nib that I could not wait to try out so I inked it up with the Chocolate Pudding and what an experience! The BB nib lays down a lovely, not too wide line that glides across the paper with no discernible feedback, and the deep brown line is a beautiful thing to see. I wrote a LOT with it yesterday for the sheer tactile and visual pleasure of the combination. The Chocolate Pudding immediately went from afterthought to favorite! Even if you, like me, have never thought about trying a brown in, you owe it to yourself to at least get a little sample vial to see how beautiful brown can be.
Truphae offers a wide range of colors and brands in sample-vial form. This rich, deep, chocolate brown is much-appreciated.
