The Nagasawa Vanishing Point Decimo Kobe Gradation Higashi-Kawasaki Harbor Mint is a limited-edition retractable fountain pen inspired by the colors of Kobe's waterfront. Created on Pilot's slimmer Decimo platform, the design blends mint and warm brown tones to evoke the sea, harbor, and the historic Old Kobe Signal Tower.
Kobe Gradation
Nagasawa developed the body color from a blend of two Kobe Ink references: No. 75 Harbor Mint and No. 40 Sumiyoshi Brown. The resulting gradient moves through cool maritime green into a warmer secondary tone, capturing the meeting of water, architecture, and weathered harbor structures around Kobe Port.
The Old Kobe Signal Tower is the visual anchor for the concept. As the oldest surviving signal tower in Kobe, it provides a historical counterpoint to the modern retractable mechanism of the Decimo.
Retractable Fountain Pen Engineering
The Decimo uses Pilot's capless retractable fountain pen system, allowing the 18K gold nib to extend and retract with a push-button mechanism. An internal trap-door seal protects the nib when retracted, combining fountain pen writing with the speed and convenience normally associated with a click pen.
This example is brand new and fitted with an 18K gold Broad nib. The pen includes a CON-40 converter and ink cartridge.
Collector Appeal
Nagasawa's Kobe collaborations are sought after because they tie familiar Japanese pen platforms to highly specific local color stories. Harbor Mint is especially distinctive within the Decimo family because the gradation cannot be reduced to a single catalog color; its visual identity depends on the transition itself.
Original overseas retail availability was limited and examples are now difficult to find, particularly in unused condition. That scarcity, combined with the broad 18K nib and the practical Decimo mechanism, gives the pen appeal both as a collectible Nagasawa collaboration and as a daily writer.
