The Parker 100 Mechanical Pencil - Cobalt Black ST translates one of Parker's most ambitious early-2000s designs into a precise graphite instrument. The dark blue-black barrel is paired with a titanium-coated graphite-grey cap and nickel-palladium trim, creating a cool, layered finish unlike the simpler black-and-silver combinations used elsewhere in the Parker range.
A Modern Reference to the Parker 51
Introduced in 2004, the Parker 100 was conceived as a contemporary flagship with clear visual links to the Parker 51. Its rounded hooded form, streamlined clip, and recessed end details reinterpret that earlier design without directly reproducing it.
Cobalt Black ST was one of the collection's more restrained finishes. The graphite-grey cap and nickel-palladium appointments give the pencil a subtle two-tone appearance, while the deep body color shifts between black and dark blue under changing light.
Writing Experience
The 0.7mm mechanism provides a strong, practical graphite line for notes, calculations, and general writing. The broad body gives the pencil substantial presence, while the tapered cone preserves control at the page.
Collector Perspective
The Parker 100 remained in production for only a few years and was discontinued in 2007. Matching pencils are less frequently encountered than the fountain pens and ballpoints, making them especially useful for completing a coordinated set.
